Central Jersey Waste & Recycling will collect and dispose of Princeton's residential trash and bulky items for 2018.

  • Residential trash must be placed curbside before 6am on the day of collection or after 6pm the night prior to collection (off the road surface)
  • Residents shall provide their own lidded containers for trash collection. You are allowed a maximum of four plastic or metal lidded containers (with or without wheels), which are 32 gallons or under. Do not leave trash out in plastic bags or use the recycling buckets. All trash must be in the trash container.
  • Empty containers shall be removed from the curb by 12 midnight after collection

Bulky Items:

  • There is a limit of two (2) large bulky items per week in addition to normal household trash. Examples of bulky items include: mattress and/or box spring (these must be wrapped in plastic or they will not be collected), a small (2 seat) couch, desk, or chair. Each bulky item must weigh no more than 50lbs.
  • Bulky materials shall be placed curbside (off the road surface and sidewalks) in an area no larger than 6' long x 3' wide.

This collection does not include:

  • Recyclables (Recycling schedule can be found here)
  • Leaves, brush/yard debris, dirt
  • Hot tubs, spas & covers
  • Construction debris
  • Appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.)
  • Building materials
  • Broken concrete, bricks/pavers
  • Ashes
  • Tires
  • Propane Tanks
  • Computer monitors
  • Electronics & televisions
  • Swing sets
  • Automotive parts
  • Fences/Fencing

2018 Holiday Trash Collection Schedule:

When a holiday interrupts your TRASH collection, it will be collected the NEXT day!

  • New Year’s Day: TUESDAY, January 2nd
  • Memorial Day: TUESDAY, May 29th
  • 4th of July: THURSDAY, July 5th
  • Labor Day: TUESDAY, September 4th
  • Thanksgiving: FRIDAY, November 23rd
  • Christmas: WEDNESDAY, December 26th

Missed Trash Collection:

If your trash has not been collected by 7:00 PM of your scheduled pick up day you can report it here or by calling the Department of Public Works at 609-688-2566. Please have the following information when you report this:

  • Date of scheduled collection
  • Time left at the curb
  • Email address
  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Number of containers left at curb

Please leave your missed containers at the curb for collection, unless notified otherwise by the Department of Public Works.
