The passive side of the park is accessible off Herrontown Rd and is home to a Community Garden Plot and picnic area. There is a small parking lot on the Herrontown Rd side of the park, in addition to the main parking lot off Snowden Lane.

In order to fish at Smoyer Pond, individuals must obtain a fishing permit as outlined by the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife

The Princeton Recreation Department monitors Smoyer Pond during the winter months to determine whether it is safe for ice skating. White Flags mean the surface is safe for skating. Red Flags mean the surface is not safe for ice skating.
