Event Information

Every year the Princeton Police Safe Neighborhood Bureau teams up with the Princeton Health Dept., Princeton Corner House, The Princeton Area Drug & Alcohol Alliance, Princeton Public Schools and Princeton Private schools to identify drug trends that are harmful to our youth. To that end, we also organize a learning event for parents, teachers and students to learn more about these trends and how they affect our kids. This year’s event is entitled “Vaping: What you need to know” and it features Linda Richter, Ph.D. Dr. Richter is the Director of Policy Research and Analysis at the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. In recent years E-cigarettes and Vaping have gained favor and acceptance with younger audiences. Whereas E- Cigarettes were designed to be used to ween smokers from nicotine, E-Cigarettes, Vaping devices and e-liquids are now being designed and marketed to be used as socially acceptable, recreational endeavors. E-liquids can be aromatic and flavored yet they may still contain nicotine and THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) in higher concentrations than if these were smoked in traditional fashion. Unfortunately, the vaping industry is still young and regulations are vague and broad-based at best. Which means many young people and parents must rely on the manufacturers and proponents of the vaping industry as their primary source of information regarding vaping. This event is NOT about marijuana; it is about vaping. Come learn about current vaping trends, devices and e-liquids and how schools and police are dealing with this situation. Please join us on Monday evening, April 30, 2018 at Witherspoon Hall (Princeton Municipal building in the courtroom) from 7pm to 9pm. This presentation can answer a lot of questions for students, parents, and people who simply want to learn more about vaping. Contact Princeton Corner House for more information at 609-924-8018. Thank you!
