Event Information

The Color of Medicine chronicles the rise and fall of St. Louis, Missouri's premier black hospital that at one point in history, trained the largest number of Black doctors and nurses in the world. Recollections of the hospital's beginnings in 1937 to its closing in 1979 are heard from other physicians, nurses and patients, along with community activists and leaders expressing the valuable significant contributions that Homer G. Philips hospital made in African-American and United States history. Followed by a panel discussion with faculty from Princeton University. Free event. Hosted by Princeton Garden Theater, Princeton University Department of African American Studies.
