Health Department

The Health Department conducts inspections of restaurants, pools, and other facilities to ensure proper sanitation, and investigates public health nuisance complaints such as trash or rodents. It also issues birth, death and marriage licenses, provides health clinics for children, and health promotion programs for all ages. The Health Department is responsible for improving, protecting and preserving the health in Princeton. Please help us by taking the Community Lifestyle Assessment Survey.

Jeff Grosser is the Princeton Health Officer responsible for promoting health, preventing/controlling communicable and non-communicable diseases, and protecting against environmental hazards in Princeton. For a public health or an environmental health emergency, the Health Officer or his staff are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the non-emergency Princeton Police Department / Communications Center at (609) 921-2100.  If the emergency is life threatening, or requires immediate police, fire or ambulatory response, call 9-1-1.

Department Functions:

  • Perform Compliance Inspections of: Retail Food Establishments, Youth Camps, Septic
    Systems, Wells, Pet Shops / Animal Boarding Facilities
  • Investigate environmental
    health complaints
  • Investigate reportable diseases
  • Provide child health
    clinics/immunizations
  • Health education Process 
  • Vital Statistics/Records (Birth, Death,
    Marriage Certificates/Licenses)
  • Provide rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats
  • Prepare for natural disasters and public health emergencies
