In order to enhance the way we communicate road closures and events, both emergency and pre-planned, the Princeton Police Department recently added software that will allow the public to view real-time road closures and events on a web-based map. Event Manager is a WTH software product for the mapping of emergency events in real-time. Benefits of using Event Manager include better performance in responding to emergency events, better ability to record events in real-time and share this information with 911 dispatch, first responders and the public. Users can also subscribe to receive emails alerts of road closures and events.
The website to access the map and to receive email alerts can be found at: https://princetonnj.wthgis.com/
This new software does not replace our current Nixle Alerts that we often send. This software will work in conjunction with Nixle in order to reach a larger audience plus it gives the user a visual reference to the events.
If you have not signed up to receive Nixle Alerts and would like, you can opt-in for text message alerts by texting your zip code to 888777. If you opt-in using the Princeton zip code, 08540, you may receive alerts from surrounding towns that use that zip code. To streamline your alerts and only receive Princeton Police alerts, create an account and pick what alerts you would like to receive.
