Tree Removal Instructions

Property owners are required to apply for a permit before:

  • Removal of or otherwise destroying a tree with a DBH (diameter at breast height) of eight inches or more
  • Removal of or otherwise destroying an ornamental or evergreen tree with a height of ten feet or more
  • Removal of or otherwise destroying a tree with a canopy extending over a public right-of-way
  • Removal of or otherwise destroying any specimen or significant tree, as defined in Section 22-2 of the Princeton Trees and Shrubs Ordinance
