Responsibilities

The nine member Commission promotes historic preservation, recommends designation of historic properties, and prepares surveys of historic sites. HPC advises and assists the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment by reviewing and reporting on development applications and preservation plans in locally designated historic districts and buffer zones. 

HPC makes recommendations to the Planning Board on the Historic Preservation Element of the Master Plan and the general protection of the community's heritage. The Commission is governed by State Law.
