Training
Princeton Office of Emergency and Safety Services and Emergency Management is proud to announce the completion of its first Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training through the Mercer County Office of Emergency Management. The training was a total of seven weeks that culminated with a final exercise this past Saturday, April 18 2015 at the Mercer County Fire Academy. The Team took part in fire extinguisher training, first aid skills, and search and rescue drills. The training was conducted by Fire Academy staff and members of the Princeton Fire Department and Office of Emergency Services. Princeton would like to thank the volunteers for their dedication and service to the community.
About CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
