The Princeton Affordable Housing Map tells the story of how actions by private individuals and public institutions — including municipal government — over generations have limited the supply of affordable and dignified housing options in Princeton to drive out much of the town’s historic Black community. The map situates these developments in the context of the long struggle for racial justice. The hope is to spur more just and equitable action at the municipal level to readdress the legacy of residential exclusion and segregation based on race.
The map was made possible by support from Princeton University’s PACE Center, The School of Public and International Affairs, and The School of Architecture as well as by Princeton Mutual Aid.
