Leaf Collection in Sections 4 & 5 – Beginning November 10, 2014


This is an important public service message from the Princeton Mass Notification system.

The Princeton Department of Public Works will begin the collection of loose leaves in Sections 4 and 5 on Monday, November 10, 2014.

Please place the loose leaves to be collected at the curb line by 7:00 am Monday morning. Once the Public Works Department completes your street, they will not return until the next scheduled collection.

A listing of all of the streets contained in Sections 4 and 5, as well as all the sections and the entire schedule, including the schedule for the collection of bagged leaves, is available on the Municipal Website –

The Princeton Environmental Commission reminds you that the easiest and most environmentally efficient way to manage your leaves is to leave your leaves in your yard.  Compost them, mulch them, or rake them into an unobtrusive area of your property. Broken down leaves will nourish your grass, plants and trees. For a more detailed description of how and why to leave your leaves, go to:

Did You Know:

•          Leaves in the streets are unsafe to children, pedestrians, and cyclists
•          Leaves left in the streets reach our streams and drinking water, producing a negative effect on both.
•          Leaves on your property provide free nutrients for your yard &


Leave the Leaves:
•          Compost them:  Rake them back into a wooded area or into a leaf corral in your yard
•          Mulch them: Mow them into your lawn or put them on your garden beds for a nutrient kick and to suppress weed growth
•          Bag them:  If they have to leave your property
